So uhm…
I’ve got big news. A couple of bits of big news really.
First, Dad finally met Lynya. He had to hand something in at Command and so mum decided that it would be a good idea for them to surprise me.
I can say they certainly surprised me… And Lynya…
It certainly answered Dad’s question…
I’m sure there’s some betazoid tradition about parents and partners meeting in the nude… Maybe I should ask that hot Betazoid that replaced the cute Trill assistant ship’s counsellor on the Destiny a couple of years back.
Anyway, after some clothes were found and I left a surprise ‘gift’ for spoon for leaving the door unlocked when he left, we went out for lunch.
So Dad approves of her, which is nice.
Second big bit of news, I’ve been offered a place at Command School and a position at the AFRT (Advanced Flight Research and Training grounds) based out of Utopia Planitia.
I can’t do both.
I’m really torn. I want to be command, I always have. But I love flying, and to be offered this position straight out of the academy is almost unheard of.
If i go to AFRT, I’ll probably end up being there for the rest of my career, flying ships, pushing them to their limits until I’m put behind a desk as left designing them, which is fun in its own way too.
If I go to Com School, I’ll graduate next year as a lieutenant, possibly find my way into a squadron position and just fly. There aren’t any immediate threats to the federation, no one’s looking to start another war so I’ll probably not get much action, won’t be able to prove myself…
I mean, what good is a fighter pilot when there’s no one to fight, and I’m certainly no taxi driver.
Spots’ been offered a place at Command School too.
Oh, that’s something else I should have mentioned, I swear, some weird guy dressed in black leather was following us around all day, whenever I caught I glimpse of him I’d look that direction or a better look but he’d be gone. It was just weird.
Anyway, I best sign off for the evening.
I wish someone would help me decide.
